Morguefile.com has been a project that I have built from concepts and designs to code in php and perl. The concept for the morgueFile was a website designed specifically to provide reference for illustrators and artists that is free to use, in addition to being a source of free stock photos. The idea and term for a morgue file has been around for a very long time. Illustrators and comic book artist have a personal library of reference source material used to create their artwork. It is usually a cabinet full of magazine clippings kept in the back of the studio. It seemed like a great idea to build a morgue file on the web. Once the cost of hosting and digi-cams became accessible, I was able to implement my idea. I created this site from concept to code. Morguefile.com gets an average of 16,000 visits and 200,000 page views per day. There are over 140,000 photos in the repository, available in high-resolution download, which have been submitted by users
